Places to Eat in Milford Haven, Pembrokeshire
Whilst staying at our Smokehouse Quay apartment, you really are spoilt for choice for lovely places to eat!
There are many eateries, and these are just a few of our favourites. Do mention that you are staying at Jayne’s Apartment, as this usually gets you great service!
On Milford Haven Marina, (https://www.milfordmarina.com/whats-on) overlooking the Marina and onward views up the river also. A short, 5 minute drive from us (a taxi is approx. £5.50-Jocks Taxis 01646 698818) or a 40 minute walk (there’s a path all the way)
Marthas Vineyard – a pub/restaurant/bistro menu, usually a 40yr+ visitors here. Although Trip Advisor has a mixed set of reviews, we have always had a nice meal here.
Harbour Master– a pub/ bistro type feel, a nice menu and a slightly younger feel than Martha’s. We also generally have a good food here too.
Gordon Bennett’s Traditional Fish & Chips– a great sit in or takeaway fish shop, it’s name says Traditional Fish & Chips, they also have Fish Tacos on the menu, which are great! Gluten Free options are also available on the menu.
Foam – This a great coffee house, which is now also open on some selected evenings (however it is always best to check first). Serving food in a ‘glass room’ that overlooks the waterway, and the glass walls can be pulled back on hotter days & nights so that you are eating ‘al fresco’. They have a different menu in the daytime to the night and serve quite a mix of foods in a rustic fashion.
Moving away from Milford, your next stop would be Little Haven (http://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/explore-pembrokeshire/towns-and-villages/little-haven), about a 5 minute drive from us here.
This is a small fishing village with a small village green overlooking the beach. They have a small lifeboat team here and many small fishing boats set off from the slip here when the tide is right.
In summary, you have
The Castle Inn – a great family pub serving honest meals, with outside seating just made for watching the sun go down.
Swan Inn – my personal favourite in Little Haven, although, as I have said they are all good here. A more ‘gastro-pub’ feel with a higher price to match. Great real fires and great views of the bay.
St Brides Inn – just across the road from the car park in Little Haven. Always busy, good food with a more traditional, older ambience.
The next choice would be to send you to Dale (http://www.visitpembrokeshire.com/explore-pembrokeshire/beaches/dale/), about a 15 minute drive away. Here, you have a large pebble beach an bay, very popular with sailors, wind surfers, kayaks and all other manner of watersports. Dale is the home of:
Griffin Inn – an award winning pub and restaurant-good food here in a great setting. They have an outside, upstairs eating area which gives you a great view of everything going on in Dale and then inside, there is the traditional, old pub and a newly built restaurant addition, very modern with contemporary log burner. They have a lot of their fish delivered to them straight from the boat and up the slip at Dale into the kitchen, so their fish offering changes daily depending on what’s been caught. It is a fish lover’s dream, but fear not, for those of you that do not like fish, there is a great menu full of all other things. Their Lasagne is one of the best I’ve tried. On a summers evening, you will find plenty of people stood against and sat on the sea wall that the Griffin overlooks, enjoying the evening sun, it really is a very popular place to be to watch the world go by.
Also in Dale is The Moorings – which is the Yacht Club in Dale, but is open to the public, I am told it’s great food there, but I have to admit I haven’t been there yet myself! It’s on the to-do list!
These are our ‘go-to’ places for you to eat whilst staying at our Smokehouse Quay Apartment.
Slightly further a field, in Broadhaven pub/restaurant called The Ocean and then slightly further up the coast is the Druidstone Hotel at Druidstone, a ‘shabby-chic’ eclectic place that has it’s very own atmosphere!
